Willie Revillame, the popular host of TV5's primetime variety show
Wil Time Big Time, on Wednesday evening announced on his show that he will turn his organization, the I Wil Serve Foundation, into a partylist group.
"Hindi ako tatakbo. Gusto ko lang magtayo. I Wil Serve Partylist," the popular television personality said. (I am not running. I just want to put up a partylist. I Wil Serve Partylist.)
Willie Revillame had set up the I Wil Serve Organization together with Atty. Ferdie Domingo last year with the stated objective of helping to alleviate poverty. "If you are an advocate of rights, you could put it into legislation. You can put it into policy," said Domingo. The lawyer added that they submitted requirements for recognition as a partylist group to the Commission on Elections at the end of March.
If the said partylist is accredited by the Comelec, it will be, Revillame hopes, as a multi-sectoral organization catering to the poor, elderly, women and even professionals. As of this time, I Wil Serve claims 3,000 members.
  Jay Montelibano, program manager of
Wil Time Big Time, insisted that Revillame himself will not delve into politics. "He has often stated it is best to serve as himself," Montelibano said. Revillame will not be a nominee, he said.
