actually, ako na gi-reinstall ang Win XP SP2 from scratch but still the same problem.

right now, i'm using Win XP SP1 i installed yesterday. so far no problems encountered. Windows loaded successfully and very fast too compared to my SP2.

i'll observe this setup for a few days.

OT: fish: musta na bro? unsa na imo proc and HSF ron? ang ako kato pa gihapon imong Thermaltake Golden Orb 2. unsa imo ika-advise na HSF for X2 4200.

3200 pa ghapon with big typhoon bai... overclock ra nako to 2.5. planning to get a better processor sa states, mouli ako friend 2 weeks from now ako ipadala niya. regarding your hsf, i think ok ra man ang golden orb2 for your 4200... wala man kaha ka nag-overclock? but kung mag-overclock ka, mas maayo ilisan nimo ug heatsink nga naay heatpipes... big typhoon, arctic freezer 64 pro, zalman 9500... check lang ang availability. pwede ra man sa ka pa-order sa manila.

this is my 5th cold boot success with SP1. hehehehe...
i think i need to tweak the registry sa ako SP2.
experiment 101 na pud ko ani. challenge na pud.

    thanks for the advise bro.
i'm eyeing for arctic freezer 64 pro or zalman 9500.

how bout buying a better casing first. hehehe! naay antec nine hundred sa pc express jones... kung ganahan kag super ventilation nga case. hehehe! super abog lang sad ang sulod sa imo pc ato nga case kay daghan kaayo ug buslot.

regarding your cold boot problem, basin ang latest driver sa imong videocard ang problem... try to install the older driver for your videocard. nvidia drivers are sometimes buggy... when i had my 6600gt, i used the nvidia ngo driver its the best performing driver available base sa akong experience. you can actually get substantial gains in performance.

@spookey: that's not how you mean by a "cold boot". anyway, your problem is not related to hardware. it has something to do with those MS SPs. you are using an AMD processor, right? so, there's no need to install SP2. SP2 is intended (only) for Intel processors. security sense? get a good firewall and an AV. that's solves your problem.

    cheers

thanks catch, but the problem is i'm a programmer and microsoft visual studio 2005 requires a XP SP2. that is why i'm forced to install SP2 on my machine. our company have oblige us to upgrade our programs from vb6 to .net.

hehe get a licensed M$ CD, then. make a sponsorship for it by your company

but, Windows Vista is just on the next block. you might consider an OS upgrade assuming your current setup could handle the heavy GUI
