Husband kills wife, hacks
CONSUMED by jealousy, a man stabbed to death his wife inside their home in Purok Dakit, Barangay Yati in Liloan, Cebu yesterday dawn.
After killing his wife, Ferdinand Iglesia allegedly tried to kill a man, whom he suspected to be his wife’s lover, but failed.

In Lapu-Lapu City, a 33-year-old man committed suicide last Tuesday after getting a scolding from his father. On the same day, a man who was reportedly mentally disturbed was found hanging from a tree in Barangay Patao, Bantayan.
Meanwhile, a farmer in Barangay Tabunok in the northern Cebu town of Tabuelan hacked a friend who left him in the middle of their drinking session.
Liloan police investigators said Iglesia allegedly tried to kill Fidel Gonzales with a bolo after stabbing his wife to death.
Iglesia’s children, who were asleep during the incident, woke up to their mother’s cry for help.

Chief Insp. Richard Oliver, chief of Lilo-an Police Station, said Ferdinand has been suspecting his wife Susan, 41, of having an affair since last November.
The police recovered the handle of a knife at the crime scene but they could not find the blade anywhere.
Ferdinand’s father Alfonso urged his son to surrender.
Police is set to file parricide and frustrated murder charges against Ferdinand.
In Tabuelan, Eleuterio Siasar, 57, reportedly got angry that his friend, Luciano Maglinte, left their drinking session last Monday afternoon.
Maglinte, police said, told Siasar he had to go home to prepare supper for his family.
PO2 Gilbert Allego of the Tabuelan Police said in a phone interview that Siasar went to Maglinte’s home and confronted the other man.
When their conversation turned into an argument, Siasar allegedly grabbed the bolo of a passerby and attacked Maglinte in front of the victim’s nine-year-old son.
Maglinte was able to grab the weapon from Siasar but he was wounded in the head.
Police said Maglinte’s condition is stable.
Siasar was arrested by the police in his home, but he was later released as Maglinte refused to file charges.
In Lapu-Lapu City, homicide investigators found the body of a 33-year-old man hanging from the ceiling in his aunt’s home in Sitio Saac, Barangay Mactan.
Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Crimes Against Persons Desk (CAPD) Chief Jun Pastorfide said they will conduct an investigation on the man’s death to determine if foul play was involved.
He said the man was scolded by his father before hanging himself. The man, he added, had threatened to commit suicide after getting an earlier scolding from his father.
In Bantayan, police were alerted to the decomposing body of a 34-year-old mentally disturbed man, who was hanging from a tree.
The man’s sister said he was missing since March 25.
