I wonder if you are a teacher by profession. Actually, what you said are true but totally I do not agree. Making kids happy by entertaining them is a misinterpretation of how ESL teaching should be. Remember these kids are treated differently in Korea so when they come to Cebu, Philippines they get culture shock because of how we treat them. In a way what is happening to them is our fault. We created our own monsters. But there is nothing wrong with making them happy. I dunno if you have attended this training a year ago about in Cebu Coliseum "The Psychology of Happy Teaching", there it was shared how important to make your kids happy and enjoy learning.

    * I'm not a teacher. I'm an entertainer. Teaching kids would involve making them unhappy, whereas entertained kids will tell their parents to send them back to the school the following month. More kids, more profit.
    * Whilst entertaining the kids, I have no means to discipline them. A disciplined kid is an unhappy kid, and unhappy kid quits one school for another (where they won't discipline him) and becomes happy at this "better" school. So, don't discipline them. Go through the sham of teaching english, by all means, it's what the parents want, but remember always that it's not the real objective.
    * These last few days, I've been writing the bi-monthly end-of-month progress report. Anyone familiar with getting new cover sheets on the TBS reports will know what I'm at. Basically grades work on a competitive basis - but it's not the kids competing, it's the schools. At our school, we want the parents to think that their kids are progressing well, so they'll keep coming back. Therefore our standard grade is the 'A'. We can give 'B' grades, but there'll be an eyebrow lifted at a 'B-' and unless you want the boss on your case, it's better not to give a 'C' - that's purely a theoretical grade here of course.

mao na style sa mga Pinoy mo adto ug Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore ug other countries nga walay visa. Mag tourist while job hunting then pag madawat then apply ug working visa. Sa Thailand, mura rasad na ug Pinas dili datu ang iya sweldo as regular teacher sa private school kay naa sa mga P20K. Okay raman kuno kay barato kaau ang food ug ka puy an didto. Then English rasad imo i teach for few hours. Then pwede kapa ka sideline if naa kay time. For experienced ESL teacher with international certificate siguro naa sa mga 40 to 50k pesos imo madawat sa Thailand.
