well, every motherboard is targeted to its specific market segment (price bound). processor aside either Intel of AMD. when we choose our motherboard, usually, it is dictated by our budget... the following are the some reference for the mobo's price as well as a sort of a guide in choosing the right motherboard for us. These are some part of the list which needs to be considered though, naa pay daghan which i didn't reflect here... most of them are all "nice to have"...

    > Type of socket... we can't get away with this since this is dictated by the processor technology...
    > Chip set used... this is the basis on the board performance... specially for overclocking
    > Number of PCB layer used to manufacture the board... most of the time, this info is not divulged by the manufacturer. some mentioned the PCB layers for marketing strategy. price is also dictated by this, more Cu layer PCB cost more than their lesser Cu layered counterparts.
    > Types of components used specially the capacitors... full solid capacitor boards are most of the time have a higher price compared to their electrolytic counterparts which the later is prone to reliability risk after aging (years of use and abuse)... mang burot ang caps. Nowadays, most of the boards use solid caps... some use 100% while others use mixed type caps. again, to cut cost... for the budget conscious market segment.
    > Type and speed of memory used as well as the number of slots and capacity (GB size) per slot... this is for upgradability
    > Form factor... either ATX, mATX or ITX... for the intended casing...
    > Number and type of SATA headers... type 2 or type 3... these are the current speeds.
    > Number of available PCIE slots (x16)... either SLI, CrossFireX or capable to cater both technologies... new PCIE revision (ver. 3) is already available...
