PC HANGS when putting DVD or CD into DRIVE

well i recently bought an LG... dvd writer... so far so good...

if mo play before.. and you put in a badly damaged disk or hardly readable disk, chances are the OS switched the Transfer Mode to PIO which is freakin slow and usually causes your pc to "hang" because it takes up all the computer time trying to read the disk. If this is the case, go to device manager and expand IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers and check each one's properties make sure in the Advance Settings tab that all controllers are in DMA mode. Usually DMA mode 5/6 for HDD and DMA 2 for Optical drives
