What is a Cult film?

-Frequently cult films are films depicting controversial or distasteful persons, activities, or philosophies. Examples include Harold and Maude,Rocky Horror Picture Show, Queen of Hearts, A Clockwork Orange, Eraserhead, Kill Bill and many others.

-A popular piece of work, generally a movie, which has gained a large following. This following has most likely been around for at least a few years, except for cases of an 'instant cult classic,' in which a movie gains instant fame which remains for decades to come.

-A movie that is weird as f*ck.

Lisud sya i define if unsa ang cult movie. Ang uban gitawag ni nila ang Cult as a "destroyer of genres" kay lahi ang approach sa films. Kanang salida nga dili normal ang approach sa plot. Dili sad siya pa deep nga movie pero unique ang iya approach ug ang conflict sa iyang story plot kay dili sya mu follow sa mainstream concepts. Dili pud sya about poverty. It is something different gyud.

Only few people appreciate Asian Cult Classics diri sa Pinas kay ni dominate man gud ang Western mainstream culture like Transformers, Saw, Insidious and etc .

I hope I'm not the only here nga die hard fan sa mga Asian Cult films xD

I like Asian cult films too. I would define"cult films" as something nga dili mainstream and not bound by any "rules" sa mainstream cinema pero always naay group of strong followers.

Park Chan-wook who directed the Vengeance Trilogy (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, Lady Vengeance), JSA, ug Thirst is ok. I like Bong Joon-ho's films better (Mother, Memories of Murder, The Host), but they're not my favorite filmmakers from South Korea.

If you like Asian cult films, you might wanna check out Japanese filmmakers Takashi Miike, Nagisa Oshima, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Katsuhito Ishii, Shohei Imamura...

I hope the Filipino Cinema can catch up unta sa cult genre. I'm sure someday nga naay maghimo ug cult diri sa mainstream side.
