The fact that Luistro didn’t even allude to such important factors makes this atrocious move of DepEd’s even less credible.

What’s even more worrying is how first-grade students will receive such pandemonium. What if you’re discussing Philippine history, when suddenly the teacher sidetracks the lesson to scientific concepts? The bigger problem is that, since the students do not have a solid background on science, discussions will be filled with confusion on what the teacher is actually talking about, and why he or she is talking about it in the first place. Have Luistro and the Department even given these implications a single thought, before recklessly twisting our educational system?"

It not as simple as you think. Science is science, not Mother Tongue, Filipino, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, Music, Art, Physical Education and Health (MAPEH), Mathematics, Araling Panlipunan, and English. Nganong libugon man jud ang mga bata.
maau if makit-an nato ang ila curriculum para unsa jud bout nila mahitabo... dli sab guro ni cla pataka ug implement ana kung tan-aw nila makaapekto sa kadaghanan....

hilig man gud na ang taga DepEd motan-aw ug mga reality shows sa TV.
and they realize all kids now a days want to be in TV.
kids in TV earn big even without proper education.

SCIENCE must be removed so kids will focus more in TV shows.
Usually the winners or the one who has the potential to "shine" are the ones who have lost their father or mother or came from a broken family...so, we should also break families so many will be winners. lol.

gusto sila ipugos ang intelligent design over theory of evolution sa curriculum. While most countries out there are slowly implementing higher studies in science in their schools, our country decides to lessen its exposure on young students. Are we now deliberately making our country less competitive? Learning sciences should start ASAP, while children's minds are impressionable, lest we fall behind our neighbors and everyone else.

A grade 1 to 2 students mind is still so playful, science is dangerous to play with.

they probably based the issue from the previous school accidents.

But Luistro noted that excluding the subject does not mean that Science concepts will not be introduced to Grade 1 students at all. “We will be integrating topics in other subjects to make the new curriculum more child-friendly,” he explained.

Luistro stressed that while the K to 12 curriculum is much more simplified, a lot of topics will be integrated in the subjects. “For instance, there will be no Science subject in Grade 1 but when the students do the readings, there will be Science concepts introduced but Science is not the subject,” he explained.
I'm not sure what the bold statements mean but taking out Science as a subject is ridiculous. SCIENCE is FUN. Anything a pupil do involves Science. We even do this experiment when I was in Grade 1 Egg in a Bottle.

Also, DepEd will be implementing few school hours for grade 1 (See here) which is acceptable. But droppping out Science is a big no no.
