Alarming NEWS from SCIENCE HIGH
Message: save sci hi, oust maam chin

im usually apathetic on matters such as this but i
just went there
yesterday and there have been quite a number of
changes that shocked
me..

have you heard of sections neptune and averrhoa?
yep there are five sections na sa first year and 2nd
year.. i wonder
which noble gas and scientist they'll be coming up
with the following
years..
i asked one of the teachers ngano ingani na
situation and he said,
gituyo siguro na ni maam chin para mahimo
siyang principal II..

another teacher i spoke with told me na wa na
gyud naeliminate ever..
bisag hagbong jud kuno sa iyang class.. mamagic
ra daw didto sa admin

and get this.. mudawat na ang admin ug
transferees! !!!

ordinary public high
school.. pero daghan lang dato nga bata..

As an Alumni (batch 1990), this is too sad. I'm a proud Sci-high scholar, daghan man pud dato sa among panahon sa una 1986-90, pero kahibalo mogunit ug guna, silhig, ug uban pa. Prestine pa kaayo ang lawn sa oval, mahadlok pa ta mo-shortcut kay kasab-an sa guard. Ang admin building kay off limits sa mga students, para namo basta maabot ka diha, boot pasabot naa kay problema, karon ... naa na kuno daghan estudyante mag stambay didto. During our time when Creus was the principal, sakit na kaayo sa dughan kung gamay kag grado, ang uban mauwaw gyud kulang na lang maghikog. The teachers then were strikto to the max, which we hate, pero karon lang ko ka-amgo nga ang gibuhat nila sakto sa among pagdisiplina. Call it naning kaayo mi sa una, but that was then.

I just hope they produce another brilliant student like Kolz kay ngilngig kaayo ni ....wa jud ni binuang part, pero panglibre inig uli hap..

Nganong na-a may dato nga this school is for the gifted underpreviledged students man. Parehas ra sa UP nga mga dato na hino-on ang mo eskwela unya ang mga pobre nga gifted dili na hino-on ka sulod. Unsa na man ni atong DECS oy.

Our parents were required to present their income tax returns when I was applying for Sci-High in the 80's. This is not the only requirement though, you have to pass other requirements as well - entrance exam - you must not only pass the test, but must belong to the top 20% of the passers, plus naa pa gyud interview. Aside from that you also have belong to the top 10% of the graduating class from your school. Dako na kaayo nga garbo if makapasar lang ka. I guess swerti na tong ako-a when I passed. The parents minimum income does put a lot of weight on being accepted, but that is not the only thing thats being considered though. Even before, there were still parents who will do magic on their income tax returns just to put more chances in letting their son/daughters be admitted. In the 80's the school is very strict in admitting students, plus there were only 2 sections for each year. Now I've heard there are about 5.

Science High is a government run institution. What do you expect? Magsakit lang inyong dughan maghuna huna ana. Panan-aw na lang mo ug sine.

I still have high regards for the school. I still hope it can live to the glory days of the 60's, 70's and 80's. Even if its a government run institution, I would still hope to have my sons/daughters be admitted to this school.
