    Default winxp file sharing

guys do you have better reference in win xp pro file sharing. i've been reading lotta things but it does not correct anything.

the file sharing should DISABLE Simple File Sharing (done) already.

now on the shared folder i want specify the LAN user and prompt a security window(login screen) to enter to validate user access rights. let say on shared folder MYSHARE, i will assign a 2 users.

user1 will have FULL access and user2 will have READ ONLY.

    tnx

yup. by default EVERYONE is added in SHARE FOLDER PERMISSION w/c has a READ-WRITE access. this time i tried replacing EVERYONE with ADMIN account with has a READ-WRITE access in all FOLDERs (SHARED and NON-SHARED).

now i tried accessing the folder REMOTELY but it always return a message "YOU DONT HAVE PERMISSION TO ACCESS THIS FOLDER..."

    this thing im stack!?!

note, common mistake for NTFS permissions

EVERYONE does not mean 'everyone' , EVERYONE is a user group that refers to all user accounts that has access to the system. by default, all USER accounts and GROUPS belong to the "EVERYONE" GROUP.

try this hybrid, create a a user in the system where you want to share the resources, and then share a resource and give read or write acces(whatever you want), to that USER, and then try accessing the share from another computer, and you will be prompted for a username and password, hopefully you will be able to connect,

** ignore the EVERYONE, you cannot modify that group

bro, hybrid, do not use the security tab, use the sharing tab, and then click on permissions.

and then after that. LOGIN as the test user and then u can access the share
