chef is a professional label of a name. you cant choose either of your choices coz everything you mentioned is related with chef/cooking.

you can't be a chef if you are just cooking for your own self. you need tasters/customers/clients. since they are customers they will of course pay you. it might be your passion but one major reason also why you want to become a chef is because of the money. of course it deals with food and you are using the kitchen.
