42 K 2012 CCM
Rate 1 (very poor), 2 (poor), 3 (good), 4 (very good), 5 (excellent)
Start on time : 5 (exactly at 4:00 am)
Route (IT-Lawaan-Mango-IT) : 5 (couldn't ask for more)
Hydration stations : 5 (abundant, because there were always filled water cups at each station not to mention the iced foam at km 30 up i think.
Hydration Stations (distance bet. statn: 5 (because when they said 1.5 k it was really 1.5 k
Hydration Stations (manpower at statn): 5 (accomodating and always available)
Energy food at stations : 4 (I was given energy bar in 2010 but not this time)
Distance : 5 (41.99 km on my garmin but can't blame the tunnel where there was no signal)
Registration Fee : 3 (because other races offered lower fees)
Give aways : 3 (because Yong and the Unilab gave more give aways)
Traffic management : 4 (can't blame Citom, City Government or even the organizers because this is the reality of a Cebu City Marathon. If we want it absolutely traffic free Badian-Malabuyoc is always an option, pero hulat ta until May.)
Weather : 5 (cloudy but no rain, sunny but with cold wind, but it was definitely not as scorching as in 2010 and 2011)
Timing Chip : 5 (as accurate as advertised)
How did i assess the race...
Was there any aspect of the CCM race that aided my performance? I say yes there was and it was the weather that was kind enough to hide the mighty sun. The hydration station of course helped but they were already a given factor.
Was there any aspect of the CCM organization that hinder my performance? No. Because i managed to exceed my target time of 4:30 and cut my PR by 30 minutes from 4 hrs 43 min.
Did my training helped me performed better? Yes. I cross trained to road bike. I taper early on December 19. I took the advise of an athlete to do speed work once a week. I avoided weekly races during training period (I started November). I trained on heavier and stiffer shoes then used my old light shoes and practiced on it two weeks before the race.
How did this thread helped me? It was on this thread that I first posted my first PR of 2:16 on my first 21k and 57 min on my first 10k, and this thread always reminded me of where and how i started running.
Will I see myself joining another marathon for next years or so? Definitely yes and I hope many will be joining and more will be breaking their PRs.
Till the next race fellows runners.
