    The key word there is SPORT. If its a sport, it is bound by rules thus the safety of the fighters/athletes are of utmost concern. Injuries? They happen. UFC fighters are professionals and they have spent almost their entire lifetime training thus their conditioning are at its highest. They can take a hit, their bodies are conditioned to do so. So brutal? No way.

    it is an art. one may have hard time understanding it, but for those who in the know, it is an art.

    Boxing as a sport statistically is more brutal. Too many dead boxers.
