now thats a great idea.i would love to see cebuano indie movies for the film festival in cebu.

If only the LGUs and Capitol would work together to make such a festival happen.

By the way, do you think the Cebu-produced Deep Gold is worthy of showcasing in a Cebu film festival?

Some argued that Cebu's moviegoers should boycott the MMFF and instead organize our own film festival. Imagine that - for a period of two weeks starting December 25 each year, no foreign and no Manila films will be screened in any theater in Cebu and only Cebu-produced movies will be shown.

MMFF is all about money, not art, and not filmmaking quality.

Young stars Kathryn Bernardo, Sam Concepcion, Louise delos Reyes and Hiro Magalona get the biggest scare of their lives in the "Parola" episode of "Shake, Rattle and Roll 13."

In the story, the group unwittingly ends up in a lighthouse inhabited by different creatures of the dark. Unknown to them, whoever sets foot in the lighthouse is cursed for life. These spirits will stop at nothing just to see them dead.

"Parola" is a hair-raising experience. Direk Jerrold Tarog meticulously handled each and every confrontation scene between mortals and dark forces to ensure that moviegoers would scream their loudest in cinemas.

Her role in "SR&R" is a totally different experience for "Mara Clara" star Kathryn. She is no underdog in the movie. Instead, she is brave enough to battle it out with evil creatures together with her co-stars Sam, Louise and Hiro.

Definitely Cebu must have its own festival instead of the crappy MMFF.

Other than getting help from our local leaders to organize our own film festival, local filmmakers also must take the responsibility to not just produce films for the sake of producing, but also make sure those films are indeed good and worthy for public presentation.

Let's face it, the Cebu-produced Deep Gold is not a good film to watch.
