MANILA, Philippines - Former Maguindanao poll supervisor Lintang Bedol was reportedly enraged yesterday over his inclusion in the electoral sabotage case with former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and former Maguindanao governor Andal Ampatuan Sr.
In an interview with Anthony Taberna of ABS-CBN News, Bedol complained that the government broke its promise not to prosecute him in exchange for his testimony that implicated Arroyo in the case.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) charged him for his involvement in the alleged rigging of the 2007 polls in Maguindanao.
Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said Bedol could still be a state witness “if he gives more details about the poll cheating.”
“Ikuwento niyang lahat ang nangyari kasi siya naman talaga ang may kontrol ng lahat. Ngayon naka-charge sya, para kung gusto niyang ma-release as state witness, kailangan sabihin niya sa court, heto mga detalye (He should tell all what happened because he was the one in control. Now he was charged so if he wants to be released as a state witness he needs to tell the court the details of the case),” Brillantes said.
