How to check Network Switch?

naa ko network switch dri sa among silingan nga banko, then after sa kilat2 gahapon, dili na maping ang nakanetwork nga comps (local kay wala raman pud ni net connection)... unsaon ni pagcheck, other than trying a spare working switch? can i test it with a lan tester, or pang patch cord ra jud nga lan tester? thanks

dont ever try it with a LAN tester, it might both kill the port / switch and the lan tester.

just totally turn off the switch, lay it down for 15mins, put it back on and put one host at port1 then put one host to port2 and so on.... if any of the ports doesn't respond on this request, your switch is compromised.
