Barangay official shot on 2nd try

A BARANGAY councilor was shot by two unidentified men riding a motorcycle.

San Roque Barangay Councilor Bobby Morados, 65, was shot while driving his Pajero SUV last Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.

The shooting happened on New Imus Rd. corner P. del Rosario Ext., Barangay Lorega-San Miguel, Cebu City.

He was wounded in his left shoulder while the suspects fled.

Cebu City Police Office Director Melvin Ramon Buenafe ordered an investigation.

Buenafe said Bobby commemorated last Tuesday the fourth death anniversary of his son Laurence Morados, who was gun down last 2007.

He said they will investigate if there is a connection between the shooting incident of Bobby and his son Laurence’s death since both fall on the same date.

Based on the investigation of the Homicide Section of CCPO led by SPO1 Victor Ruel Ayuman, Bobby was driving with his wife Elma on M.J. Cuenco Ave.

Bobby was escorted and tailed by five barangay tanods on board their Pajero service.

The assailants suddenly appeared on the driver side and pulled out a firearm then fired at them several times, hitting the left windshield.

The suspects sped off after the shooting, while Bobby was rushed to the hospital.

Evidence recovered at the crime scene were two empty shells of a caliber .45 pistol and a deformed slug of an unknown caliber.

Last September, an unknown assailant also attempted to kill Bobby in his store in Carbon Market, but ended up shooting a store customer instead.

Josephine Sanjorjo, 52, was shot in the back while buying slippers from the store of Bobby. The councilor was unscathed.
