My friends cable also was just 25 meter.
It may be possible that the plug on one side lost contact or is not crimped properly. One contact may also be oxidized, who knows.
Do you have any chance to try temporary another cable?

try setting your NIC to auto mode. Para match sa router which is in auto mode.

We had a similar situation months back. A new router was integrated, it was set to 100mbps...but some NICs connected to it were set to auto mode. It created chaos. It took them almost a week to resolve the problem...even the supplier support personnel was not aware, nga ingon ana diay na. Well...he was a certified CISCO something. While we had an officemate who suggested that it should match...dili siya CISCO certified but he knows CISCO...the certified guy did not bite the suggestion at first...so it took them longer to resolve the problem.

Those are possible. When I asked the guy who crimped my cables to test it, all showed ok. I was even there when he crimped and tested it. I'll be checking the RJ45s again to see if something is wrong. And I only have the 1 meter cable that came with the router. Might as well use that cable to test the connection.

Yup! The downstairs PC is hooked up to the number 1 port and our PC in the room upstairs is hooked up to port 3. Something wrong with it?
