The Power of Belief was a ABC News Special aired on October 6, 1998, hosted by John Stossel. Stossel examines popular claims of therapeutic touch, psychic detectives, faith healing voodoo curses, channelling, and the media's lack of inquiry into pseudoscience.

Includes appearances with Michael Shermer, James Randi, David Willey, JZ Knight, Susan Miller, John Monti, Ava Kay Jones, and Elmer Glover.

The episode contains video of the "world's longest firewalk" which included Stossel and Willey taking part.

Robert Todd Carroll called it "a very good survey of popular culture's fascination" with the paranormal.James Randi wrote "ABC-TV, in my opinion, did a really excellent job" with the show.

Up ko ani, for one simple reason: There is clearly a need for healthy, rational skepticism in our country. It doesn't take long for one to find out if this is the case. The 21st century must leave behind medieval superstitious thinking. Kids in the Philippines should be taught how to use the tools of critical thinking to evaluate every cockamamie mumbo jumbo and conspiracy theories that are bombarded to them either from the media or from people around them like you-know-who.

I agree with what James Randi said: People believe these things because they want to believe them; it comforts them. I might add that the people who propagate these ideas get power- and ego-trip from it...for having the attracted a mass of believers to their crackpot ideas. Sadly though, it's often the vulnerable, the gullible and people in their weakest moments that are victims of these psychic healings, seances, quack doctors, etc.

The JREF in the US, as well as other skeptic organizations, serve a useful function in that society, to borrow Christopher Hitchens' phrase: TO COUNTERPOSE ENLIGHTENMENT TO THE BANE. The fact that no one's won the JREF $1 million challenge since its inception should point to the obvious "conclusion": that claims about the supernatural have never gone beyond the status of anecdotes and rumors.

As James Randi would probably say: That doesn't mean they're not true. It just means we haven't seen any evidence that passes the test.

hehe, every explanations are all written in the Bible, you just Dont want to accept and believe it. Atheist are asking Physical Evidence yet it is well explained in the Bible the spirituality of God.

I am wondering why people like you would conclude that there is No God because your Limited Mind cannot explain it? Concluding that there is NO ultimate creator because you cannot produce any physical Evidence yet your limited mind dont have the capacity to even explore and explain the nearest solar system.

we already cited our evidence diri sir. I for one mentioned CREATION as evidence for God's existence.
