    Default National Bookstore in Ayala

I went there last Aug. 19, 2011 to purchased a book due to the sales promo. And I found out that the original priced was increased by P100 ( from P495 to P595)as the store offered 20% discount. So I've decided not to buy nalang. What are your thoughts of this type of maneuver guys?

Doesn't make sense. The store offered a 20% discount then the price went from P495 to P595?

You don't call that "discount"; you call it "ripoff".

This is a common practice by most stores here in Cebu.

Ako misis naa gitiman-an nga item sa Infant section sa SM, then pag sale nila iya ta paliton thinking nibaratu na but what they did was they bumped the price of the item para inig less, you'll just be paying the same amount before it was on sale.

I will try to verify this with the mgt. when i get to. was it a single book or all or most of the books have gone up? or an isolated?

It would take a lot of manhours to re-price the barcodes alone including putting it in the POS machine.

    karaan na nga marketing/sales tactics

mark-up the original price so they have just the leeway for this "cut-off" price
like...original price is P100 then jack it up to P120 pesos (20%) then "sale" dayon price "cut-down" to P102 or "15% Off"
Appealing kaayo sa mga "bargain hunters" or hilig sa "sale"

marketing strategy and tactic of sales just like what you see in different adz and in television, very eye catching and once your tempted your a victim he he he he..

    My experience,
I was a worker before in SM and AYALA in different establishment from Salesman to any works related to..

All types of SALE like bodega sale, summer sales, christmas rush sales etc from UP TO 50% mark down, kini tanan pakulo lang..

the truth is a week before sales scheduled some items mag overtime intawon mig pang ilis ug price pasakaan daan para inig discount mao ra gihapon ang labas sa presyo...

mas maayo mupalit mog mga items kanang dili sales time kay mga tinuod na nga mga price kaysa anha namu during SALES...
