    a post from lololol forum

For anyone saying that this is one upping Dota 2, it's not. Dota 2 is giving $1 million to the winner of that tournament. This $5 million is the entire prize pool for season two. It will be split up among every regional, national, and international tournament that takes place. And not just for the winners, but second and third place prize money will be coming out of this as well.

Riot is announcing this to steal some hype from the Dota 2 tournament. But to compare this to Dota 2's 1m is apples to oranges. That $1m is being given to one winning team in one tournament. Compare that to Riot giving away $5m to multiple teams in multiple tournaments over the course of one year. Valve hasn't even announced a season for Dota 2, let alone that season's entire prize pool.

ha? why will i be a failure? we'll never know how many tournament LoL will have in season 2 and i dont even know how would they split that $5m they can go spend the 2.5m on tournaments going to the finale and make the finale pool prize 2.5m and i doubt valve will put out more than $1m in dota2 incoming tourney we all know that that $1m international tourney was just a marketing strategy to get the fanbase hyped

    @ Metz

i think so cause from what i've heard on what the players got from dreamhack 4th/5th was = to the SC2 2nd prize

thought LoL is 5v5 and SC2 is 1v1

and about game coverage LoL viewers broke the stream view record at dreamhack and you can see dozen of game coverage on youtube and own3d

LoL is big in NA right now and its just getting bigger and bigger with them joining MLG Pro circuit
