I just noticed my co-worker shared to me that all her coins now stick to magnets, as compared to years ago that they dont, and told me that these new coins do, if i remembered correctly, all coins in circulation never, well at least the geniune ones dont, and i cannot recall the BSP announced anything about changing coins or their properties, its only the face changes but i believe the materials never do.
So i went for my pocket, grabbed all the coins i can, checked using a magnet, and guess what, 6 out of 8 coins stick to magnets, 5 of them had the year 2009 and 2011 on them while one had 2003 on it. So i was just wondering, are most of the coins in circulation right now fake? I saw a thread here that talks about fake 5 and 10 peso coins, but all of them? Maybe i just missed the news and didn't know that the BSP changed the metal composition on their coins, so maybe the new coins now should stick to magnets, or maybe not, can any of the guys from the banks here could shed some light?
