They are trying to reinforce the Andy Lau's image to the international audience other than in Asia. Andy Lau is a Tom Cruise in Hong Kong. However, he is not so much exposed sa international scene.
One good movie I have seen with Andy Lau with it is the Infernal Affairs. It was the movie that was adopted by Hollywood and repackaged as "The Departed". If you can see the original movie, you can appreciate how Hong Kong films does it better than the copycat. The fact is that Scorcese's "The Departed" became the best picture in Academy awards which just get the idea from the Canto-movie.
