LEGO Artisan Displays Sculptures of Endangered Animals at the Philadelphia Zoo

Visitors of the Philadelphia Zoo have the chance to see some incredible LEGO masterpieces made by Sean Kenney. The artist came up with an idea of making different creatures out of LEGO pieces.

But Kenney's works are not just ordinary - he made detailed replicas of endangered species, having the goal of making children aware of the necessity to preserve the biodiversity of our planet. The LEGO animals are part of an exhibition called Creatures of Habitat: Gazillion Piece Animal Adventure.

In addition to the LEGO creatures, the artist made a series of smaller dioramas showing what people can do to re-grow rain forests. In order to complete the exhibit, Kenney used 259,450 LEGO bricks and thousands of hours of work.

For example, to complete the polar bear, Kenney required a group of people to help him with the task and 1,100 hours to finish the sculpture composed of 95,000 LEGO bricks. The polar bear is the largest sculpture in the exhibition and according to the artist it was the most difficult one to make.

LEGO Tower Sets World Record as the Highest Ever Built, Being 30.22m Tall

Artists working with LEGO bricks are continuously looking forward to make unique and groundbreaking creations. One of such LEGO creations is a tower in Norway, made completely of LEGO parts, which rises at a height of 30.22 meters.

The tower can be observed in front of the Oslo City Hall. It is worth mentioning that the current LEGO tower managed to break the record set up previously by another tower built in Munich, which was 25 centimeters short, reports the Norway media.

To prevent the fall of the tower, the construction workers decided to use special wires attached to the structure, which you can see in the image. The picture you see here was taken on April 24, 2010. Unfortunately, there is no information on the amount of time the tower will stand in front of the City Hall.

Robot Made of LEGO Parts and Motorola Droid Solves Rubik's Cube in 24s

Developed by David Gilday, this Droid controlled device is able to solve a Rubik's cube in about 24 seconds. Every move it makes the robot registers and shows on a LED display.

It would be interesting to note that during his childhood, David often thought about growing up and playing with LEGO. In order to create a robot that would be able to solve a Rubik's cube, Gilday developed a custom application on the Motorola Droid and afterwards built the LEGO robot.

The smartphone from Motorola films every move of the Rubik's cube using its built-in video camera.

Huge Robotic Chess Set Composed of 100,000 LEGOS

A group of four LEGO enthusiasts decided to create what they call the Monster Chess set.

Their set is made entirely from LEGO parts and it also features robotic pieces that can move on their own.

The team spent a whole year creating the set that is composed of 100,000 LEGOS and expands over a territory of about 156 square feet.

It is worth mentioning that the four enthusiasts were supervised by Steve Hassenplug, a LEGO specialist and that the project was sponsored by LEGO.

In order to control their robots the team made use of the LEGO MINDSTORMS XT technology, which represents a complex system that allows a person to create a LEGO robot.

The robotic chess can be controlled by two humans, two machines or a human playing against a computer. It is also possible to recreate a number of famous matches

World's Highest Lego Tower Erected in Brazil

Composed of 500,000 Lego blocks, the new structure was able to beat the record set last year by another Lego tower built in Chile.

Around 6,000 people gathered in Sao Paulo to witness the rise of a 102 feet and 3-inch Lego tower (38 meters 71 centimeters).

The structure was made of independent blocks of Lego bricks that were stacked with the help of a crane.

It would be interesting to note that the Lego structure was made in 4 days. The organizers decided to use wire supports to prevent the tower from falling.
