    Default "Amerikano!"

This is what alot of kids (and some adults) yell out on sight of my alien presence... which brings me to ask this question I've had bottled up for so long:

Do they teach Geography at schools here at all? Why does the general public assume that all foreigners are Americans?

Oh, btw, I'm Greek and part Egyptian

as oberserved also, if kids happened to see this kind of caucasian people(white persons) they will called amerikano.

there was one time on a beach resort, two white men playing table tennis and the kid asked them if they were americans. their answer goes like this: ''we are not an a s s h o l e american idiots, we are canadian''.

haha! guess schools aren't teaching geography at all.. well, most of the people think that caucasians are americans coz they can't tell the differences between this and that.. if they're english, american, australian, etc.. it would all apply to white people that come here to the Philippines.. everyone from this country would think that they are all Americans.. except for those you personally know..

This has nothing to do with the adequate teaching of Geography or lack thereof in this country--the most overwhelming reason is simply the fact that from 1898 to the mid 1950's, the Philippines was practically annexed by the United States. That's over 50 years of being immersed in the American culture and psyche, and being brainwashed to think that "white" means "American" and thus "superior".

Same reason why western people can't differentiate people from Asian countries...
