It's a normal reaction really... humans are social creatures and when we arent invited to an occasion, we automatically feel left out and most people over react to this. Some people don't say it out loud , but the emotion is present.

I don't think you're at fault TS, and the one not invited isn't at fault as well. It's just a show of emotions that wasn't displayed well.
If the occasion does happen again, i suggest you talk about it nicely that you were being considerate of that person's schedule and didn't want to bother them with the party. Speak to them calmly and if you want invite them then. If di siya mu sugot, then iyaha na na.
