Whoever said I was one? Your problem is, you interpret my persistence in squeezing out information from you, as a form of arrogance or that you're train of thought has resorted to something like "...giro kaayo ni siya ay, abi nimo kung kinsa, nga wala gani kasabot sa akong ginapangsulti...salig lang ni siya kay moderator sa forum, mao nga abi nimo voice of authority nga dili gani kasabot sa akong gipangsulti." If this is your flow of thought, and if that flow of thought is what prompted you to ASSUME that I think I am a rocket scientist, then please do be assured that I fully understood your posts, and my understanding of it, and how I respond to your posts, has absolutely NOTHING to do with me being the moderator or me trying to look authoritative.

    Agreed.

Now a further explanation of why this issue (i.e. fundamentals of math etc.) needs to be clearly defined in this subforum of iStorya.net (especially for those who felt lost in all the discussion). Tinood, nga perhaps somewhere out there in the vastness of space, other intelligent beings exist, that have a completely different set of standards (i.e. their own tools or their own ways of measuring things, or their own way of doing science) from our own. A good analogy of this is like two people from different cultures/races--a Filipino and a Chinese person may have different words for rice, but they will eventually cook it the same way and eat it the same way, because it's STILL rice. Another good analogy is, in Celcius, the boiling point of water is 100 °C, while in Fahrenheit the boiling point is recorded as 212 °F...different numbers, but water STILL boils at that point, regardless of the difference in units of measurement. This is precisely what I meant by something fundamental.

Now diri ang gusot sa discussion--if i-allow nato ang concept nga ang mga alien diay naay kaugalingong science ug technology, their own tools, methods and measurements etc., then we'll be in serious trouble in this subforum of iStorya, for this is the science section. The basis for allowing posts here is that they have to at least adhere to a common reference or be grounded by a set of rules that is logical or in line with OUR understanding of science and mathematics as human beings. Now if we allow the idea that our frame of reference may be wrong, or that it might change in the future, then wala na'y purpose ang rules and regulations diri sa Science section--i.e. you can therefore post about things OUTSIDE the realm of science (i.e. paranormal, ghost stories, ESP, Telekinesis)--something which will never happen as long as this section remains to be a SCIENCE section, as defined in the rules and regulations. This is the reason why I wanted to stress about fundamentals--if we are not fairly grounded in the things we discuss in this section, then this section will fail to be a science section and just might well be a General Discussions section.

Sea level pressure cguro..yes it will boil at 100 degrees celcius. pero at high altitudes?? thats a different story

Mao ni ako pasabot-A lot of variables affect our equipments or the norm. Check this link...Making a Splash on Mars - NASA Science.. Water boils 100 degrees celcius on earth but is different on Mars. Let us not be conclusive..Our fundamentals are our fundamentals. It was made to the conditions of our planet to make us simply understand our planet.(based na sa imo quote above ha)

You took my example out of context.

Do you see anyone here nga ga-counter sa fact nga water boils at a different temperature at different altitudes or that it has totally different behavior on another planet? Naa ba? Kay kung wala, ngano man i-point out pa man na nimo? Unsay purpose sa pag mention nimo ana? Nga naay FLAW ang akong reasoning?

The types of rebuttal you give are so-called "smart a$$ remarks"--not conducive for a healthy discussion, because instead of tackling the subject matter head-on, you choose specific items that you feel need to be clarified (in this case ang imong gi-pili kay ang boiling point of water), but in doing so, you have deviated from the original point of contention, and in the act, you feel triumphant nga nakakita ka ug "weak point" in someone's statement.

I think you are referring to yourself when I was stating that in the near future people are gonna question our mathematical principles and theories about Space travel then you replied with 1+1=2...Does that refer to you?so then, we conclude that you are one smart ass...am i right??

I wasn't the one who took something out of context. The one plus one remark that I made, is a reminder that certain things will remain basic and fundamental no matter what you do to it. It was totally within the context of your remark, that principles of math will be questioned someday. So how can you conclude I was making a "smart a$$" comment?

1+1=2 does not make you a rocket scientist sa ako pa pasabot..ang muhimo sa payag does not mean makahimo ka ug building..rewind na sad ko...kapoy balik balik oi..when I referred to" in the future, people are going to question our mathematical principles and theories about space travel. I did not talk about basic math w/c is 1+1=2..Quantum physics, astronomy ug uban pa ako pasabot..then you made that smart ass remark...No point in arguing with a smart ass..

Are you kidding me?? we are talking about space travel, easily masulod sa utok is advanced mathematics, quantum physics, astronomy ug uban pa diha nga out of this world mathemtics. If we were to question what was said above. does it mean we question 1+1=2?so is that being a smart ass or not?
