Phenom II X6 is an AM3 cpu. AM3+ will be used for upcoming (unreleased) Buldozer CPUs from AMD.

how about waiting for the next gen amd cpu(s)? if not then Phenom II x6 will do just fine, or X4,X3,X2 for the matter, which ever fills the purpose of your server.
