During the interview, I honestly told them that I have no certification what so ever to prove that I can do basic computer repair because I only learned these things via google and self studying. Instead, I politely asked them to give me a chance to prove myself.

The company hired me as a Jr. Systems Admin.
I do that too, present myself, my potential, and of course my willingness to serve.

Sadly, I have not found not one company willing to give me that chance.

I go to agencies, govt offices, I feel I can do better than those encoders at DFA or NSO who often make mistakes in data entry. I can do great things if only given an opportunity, just someone believing in me.

    mao.

My career involves financial products and recruitment.
We have a system that major companies like Ayala, Unionbank, DMCI, CrownAsia, Major Investment firms, Life insurance, and NonLife insurance trust. They will not partner with us if naay chance madaot ila name.

Once makadungog na ug recruitment ug licensing fee, parehaon dayon mi sa fly by night networking companies and mo close na ila mind.

Hinoon, investing takes vision. it's not our loss, we just need to persevere and find people with the right mindset.

I know how this feels like. I came from a different background and experience. I have never been successful seeking chances in the civilian world. My resume shows I can handle much more complicated systems and scenarios, but HRs are either blind or mentally deficient to see the person in a curriculum vitae...or are so afraid to gamble with me.

The guy explained, most employers nowadays, rarely give chances for people wanting to change fields of work. With tight budgets, less is alloted for training these people. Most if not all companies want people who can hit the ground running so to speak.

For those who are able to shift fields of occupation and are successful, consider yourselves lucky and fortunate. You have a kind employer who sees your worth beyond that paper called a resume.

Otherwise, life is a dead end, you are stuck with what you have and live with it.

I agree! Ako gani, prior to my present job, I worked at an RnD company. Although it was pretty well related to my job, I felt that I was far more better than what my previous company could offer to me. So I put my words into action. Luckily, I was hired by a better company, very much in line with my profession and even exposes me into various fields of engineering, with better compensation of course.

So, my advice for those who want to change jobs, especially for those who are currently working in a company that is not related to their profession, you can still make a U-Turn while its still early. The more you stay with that company, the lesser you have a chance to do it. But if you think you are not qualified, then take short term courses if necessary. If badly needed, then your heart beats for it, take a new college degree which suits your desired profession.
