for my new resolution, i no longer donate to the church, i will not attend fund raisers by the church, and if they beg me or us for money because of some poor soul in some dilapidated area in this country, i would tell them they can ask their archbishop.

Financial contributions in Catholic church is purely on freewill donations devoid of compulsion or coercion, for God loves a cheerful giver (Read 1Cor 16:1-2, 11Cor 8:12, 11Cor 9:6-. It could be more or less than tithe, God will accept it, and will bless you commensurate to the amount you have given, hence you are advised to give more.

Dili parehas sa ubang Christian denominations obligahon kah with a certain percentage of your income pah.

It can't be called purely nor freewill donations since church mass allotted time for this purpose where Sakristans or Altar Servers go to each mass goers bringing 'sibot' and pleading for donations. Why not donation box?

And why there is an allotted time for that? Will these mass goers can't freely donate with themselves? How about putting a donation box, isn't that difficult? No pun intended but let me get this straight. Kinsa gud dili mohatag kung agian ka sa sibot nya naa pay mga tawo o tupad nga motan-aw nimo kung mohatag ba ka o dili?

Kami bro dili mi mohatag, I must admit I am not into this sibot thing.
When I was in there before sa Pinas, wehave our way of giving our share.
My family , we use to either offer wine , fruits or ostiyas.

Maayo na lang gani diha sa Pinas kay sakristan ra nag motunol sa sibot diri sa gawas kay mga parish council gyud ang motunol but usahay sad walay sibot but donation box with matching envelope for your personal intentions.
But again, dili gehapon ko and most parishioners here are not inclined to drop their offerings in that sibot.
    Who cares kinsay motutok nimo?
But proactively I gave my share by means of regularly offering a mass intended for our faithful departed loved ones.
