The 1st Pro-life Filmmaking contest
- A filmmaking contest for student / amateur filmmakers who will submit original documentary or short feature films about pro-life topics, as specified in the contest rules. Winning entries will belong to Pro-life Philippines for education, training and counseling purposes.
- This contest was launched last October 2005.
- The deadline will be on January 15, 2006.
- The top ten films will be selected right after the deadline
- The finalists will be announced in Feb. 20, 2006
- Date and venue of the final judging and awards' night will be announced later.
- All entries will be shown during the Pro-life film festival in the last week of Feb. 2006 or the first week of March 2006.
RULES OF THE CONTEST
1. The contest is open to all Filipino amateur filmmakers and college students, except all board members, officers and employees of Pro-life Philippines, Inc. A non-resident Filipino should present proof of continued citizenship.
2. There are two categories in which a contestant may join: documentary and short feature. Each contestant may submit only one (1) entry since the two categories will not be judged separately. An entry may be done by an individual or a production group who shall collectively be treated as one (1) contestant.
3. The entry should be about any of the following themes: NO TO PRE-MARITAL ***, NO TO ABORTION, and/or NO TO CONTRACEPTION. The genre may be: DRAMA, COMEDY, or a COMBINATION of both.
4. Each entry must not contain foul languages and/or sexually suggestive scenes. It must be approximately 15-20 minutes in length.
5. The following shall not be eligible as entries: a. Films that have been awarded a prize in any other contests. b. Films that have been completed before October 2005.
6. The entry must be original to the contestant. It may be an adaptation of another literary work, but the contestant must present a proof of consent from the creator of the original work, and that the adaptation is free from any claim or lien from the copyright owner of the original work, i.e. payment of royalties or settlement of all legal or fiduciary obligations to the copyright owner prior to the submission of the entry to the contest. Similarly, if the contestant needs to use audio and/or video resources that are not his own, he should make sure to get the approval of the ones who own the copyright of the music and video that he will include in the entry.
7. The final entries should be in DVD and VCD formats and must be submitted in two (2) copies for each format. If the film is in Filipino, it must contain English subtitles. A computer-typed synopsis and film credits should accompany the entries.
8. The contestant must submit his/her entry in a sealed long brown envelope. Inside the envelope, the contestant should include a sheet of paper containing the title of the entry, the contestant's name/s, address, telephone number, a brief bio-data, and a certification from a school faculty or administrator who testifies that the entry is the contestant's original masterpiece.
9. Entries must be addressed to the Board of Judges, The 1st Pro-life Filmmaking Contest, which shall be the sole body to evaluate the artistic merits of the entries. Entries should be submitted to Pro-life Philippines, Good Shepherd Compound, 1043 Aurora Blvd., Quezon City not later than January 31, 2006. Entries sent by mail or courier should be postmarked/invoiced not later than January 19, 2006.
10. Failure of an entry to comply with the specifications stated above shall result in its immediate disqualification.
11. Pro-life Philippines shall have the sole right to designate the persons who will constitute the Boards of Judges whose decision shall be final.
12. Pro-life will announce the names of the top ten finalists on Feb. 20, 2006. The finalists will be notified by mail, by SMS, and through a telephone call. The date and venue of the awards night will be announced later.
13. Pro-life reserves the right to reproduce and sell all entries with or without the contestants' consent but with due credit to the authors.
14. The winners will receive the following prizes: First place?cash prize of P25,000, and a plaque of recognition; Second place?P20,000, and a plaque of recognition; Third place?P15,000, and a plaque of recognition. The other non-winner finalists will receive plaques of appreciation and Pro-life promotional items. All non-winners who will not qualify for the Grand Finals will be given certificates of participation.
