    Default Dual Booting/Partition Question

to all well informed istorya members,

i was wondering if i could do a dual boot my win xp with a 64 bit version? i looked around microsoft's websites and it says the Hard drive should be partition first before installing.
So the question: is there a way to do a drive partition inside windows so that i wont do a reformat? the reason is i have a lot of programs installed and its very time consuming and difficult to redo all the settings in each application.
    thanks!!!!
