It appears that Samsung is planning world domination, well, at least when it comes to Ivy Bridge based notebooks, as the company has unveiled another three new models. What we’re looking at this time around is the more affordable Series 5 and more specifically the 550P sub-set which consist of 15 and 17-inch models.
First out is the largest of the three new models, the NP550P7C which has a 17.3-inch screen with 1600x900 resolution. It also sports a quad core, Core i7-3610QM CPU which is a 2.3GHz part with 6MB of L3 cache. Other features include a GeForce GT 650M GPU, 8GB of DDR3 memory, a Blu-ray drive and a 1TB hard drive as standard. Samsung has also thrown in 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi courtesy of an Intel based card, Bluetooth 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, a pair of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, a D-sub connector and a webcam.

The other two models both fit under the NP550P5C model name which as far as we’ve managed to find will come with a Core i5-3210M CPU, although Samsung hasn’t officially specified which CPU the SKU comes with. Here we sadly have a 15.6-inch display with 1366x768 resolution and the differentiator between the two models is that one comes with a GeForce GT 650M and the other doesn’t. Samsung will offer SKU’s with 6 or 8GB of DDR3 memory, up to 1TB of storage and a DVD drive. Connectivity appears to be the same as for the 17.3-inch model.
