Default CPU speed how to compare (ex. d925 vs e2140)

    Hi tech gurus!

how do we determine actual CPU speed? (or which is the better CPU?)
let say for example the intel pentium D925 3.0 Ghz 4 MB L2 Cache versus the newer Intel e2140 Dual core 1.6 Ghz 1 MB L2 cache

they say that the newer e2140 is better than D925, but the D925 has better specs on paper. D ba now, we dont compare CPUs by Ghz but by series na, sakto ba? ehhe
in other words, asa may mas nindut ani duha?
    please advice... thanks!

    Read this full review....http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...0_2.html#sect0

See how Pentium D925 stack up with Pentium E2140...

here's a teaser benchmark for you.

@loloyis.com: Nice article you found there.

@Poor_Prince23: I hope that answers your question.

ALSO, Look what the e2160 does to the Pressler...

    thanks bro! very useful links!

    question lang.. since 1.6ghz is dual, dats 1.6 x 2 = 3.2 ghz?

the speed are indenpendent in each core therefore it will not add up. 1.6 Ghz will run at 1.6 Ghz on stock settings.

nope, 1.6ghz lang jud na cya, it will not add up to 3.2ghz. its just that it has 2 cores running at 1.6ghz each. good for multitasking... example, one core will do one job while the second core will do another job simultaneously.

Another difference also between the two processors is their architecture. The Pentium D 935 (although it has a higher clock speed & cache) uses the old Netburst technology. While the new Pentium Dual-Core E2100 series uses the new Core Micro-architecture technology. To give a visual comparison, the Pentium D is like a spinning water wheel with 2 buckets only while the Pentium E2100 series is a spinning water wheel with 8 buckets. The Pentium Dual-core E2100 series has a better performance than the Pentium D.
