dapat gyud ba na sa Linux ka mag PHP script? kasagaran company na mangita og PHP programmer kay dapat naa background sa Linux kay sa Linux nila ipahimo . . . toinkz . . . is WAMP not powerful enough? hehe or naay mahimo sa Linux na dili mahimo sa windows?

Gusto na ta ko mag trabaho kay naa nako'y knowledge about PHP pero basic ra siya . . . i want to practice PHP scripting but i don't have any idea unsaon? so akong idea kay manrabaho . . . pero naa kahay mudawat nako na noob man ko? hehehe

Most companies hire php programmers who were knowledgeable in linux because linux is free, they can save lots of money than buying an expensive windows server OS. If you want to be php programmer, its an advantage to study linux...

can you direct me to a site where i can download or study linux?? how to install it? and how to use it since i know its like MS-DOS where you have to type instructions via command-line . . . thankz

Not really but as per nullpointer pointed out because of the cost, they resort to Linux. WAMP is good enough to be able to learn PHP and it can still be applied to Linux as long as you stay on PHP, that is without hacking your way out interfacing to 3rd party libraries.

If you really want to learn, I suggest installing the WAMP/LAMP components separately, Apache, MySQL and PHP. This helps you understand how these components interact with each other. Do not just rely on packages.

ok ra php sa windows use xampp or wamp or phpTriad..

but if you want to dig deep, very deep in php programming, i advice you to go linux...

ffmpeg or video conversion are some things Linux can bring to your PHP shell script, also there is a new plugin that can now determine file uploading progress just using PHP, test installed the plugin in windows but did not work, they say its stable in linux and would work.


and most server run on LiNuX because its free and more stable.

Windows server on the other hand is still Good they have ASP / ASP.NET

very Good too but community is far way out of reach!
