when did you think Morrissey's star shine the brightest?
when did you think Morrissey's star shine the brightest?
Although the songs which I hold dearest to my heart "THERE IS A LIGHT THAT NEVER GOES OUT" and "REEL AROUND THE FOUNTAIN" are from the SMITHS-ERA I still prefer Morrissey as a solo artist. OK,....so his list of guitarist in tow for his individual effort (Reilly,Boozer,Whyte) couldn't rival Johnny Marr but does he really need him...
I feel that MORRISSEY in his part has sacrificed and worked alot since the demise of his band and reforming The Smiths would only give the other members some attention.
ADDED INFO: Morrissey ( and the Smiths ) were offered five million dollars to reunite for the March 2006
Coachella festival which he actually turned down because for him money does not come into it..EAT YOU HEART OUT FRANK BLACK for reuniting THE PIXIES...HEHEHEHEHHE
p.s. i definitely know who you are....

whoah! you know who i am? how did you know? and i hope you only know the good side of me. tehee! anyways, i could say that Morrissey has matured since The Smiths break-up. He was good with Marr but he is even better today. One thing though, im not sure if this is bad or what, but Morrissey's new found fame, specially with people a generation younger to ours, is giving the boost he need to spread his music. I just hope he wont suddenly become a household name ang make him a part of pop culture. If that happens, my santuary would be over, there is nothing better than to listen to Morrissey to get away from this cruel world.
Oh! let me be miserable!
MORRISSEY HAS LONG BEEN A PART OF POP CULTURE BUT NOT ON OUR LOCAL SHORES...THANK GOODNESS.
I HAVE LONG BEEN AN OLD SOUL BUT WITH A HEART THAT CRAVES TO BE YOUNG AGAIN...
The Smiths music is totally better than Morrissey's solo efforts.
Case in point - all of The Smiths' materials were released and almost half were released as singles ... therefore nothing they wrote was ever considered as CRAP. Yet with Morrissey's efforts.. there were a few albums that I didn't care if I owned one or not- including the latest one (which seems that he's running out of songs) and there are some songs not worth listening to.
Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?
@artistdais1998
amen!
@all
i am a big fan of The Smiths, but Moz now is way, way different from he was with The Smiths. but i still cant decide if he is better now or before.
it is also a fact that there are more younger people that is into his music today, in my personal opinion, its probably because many realized EMO is largely influenced by his works with The Smiths! hell, i just hope we wont be called EMO for loving Moz's music!
Moz is different in a way - ... his music is not as good as when he was co-writing with Marr. Marr brought out the best in him. Ang pag complement sab sa ilang melodies, both sa vocals and guitar, maoy nindot gyud kaayo... Morrissey never had that relationship with his guitar players sa iyang solo projects.
Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?
i agree, Boorer is good but Marr's melodies compliment Morrissey's witty and sometimes lonley lyrics. the very first time i've heard of their music, i knew that i will love their music for a long, long time.

IN ALL HONESTY...what you've written crossed my mind beforehand..the number of singles do not lie right?..Morrissey is to THE SMITHS what Lou Reed is to The Velvet Underground,what Bob Pollard is to Guided by Voices,what Robert Smith is to The Cure...I am afraid that despite his iconic status ( and with rabid fans having vigils infront of his L.A. home), his present day works will become a bore ( take the case of "Ringleaders...I HAVE NEVER BOUGHT IT) Take the case of Lou Reed after gaining prominence with VU somewhat his carreer has always evaded the mainstream. But as an adoring fan you will always place them on a pedestal. However embarrasing their next actions will be.....
