    Default Rondalla Music

kinsa ganahan ani ug rondalla music? It's a subgenre of Philippine folk music that utilized the used of banduria. sometimes they even included the African banjo (the banjo used by Bela Fleck and bluegrass pickers like Steve Martin and Noam Pickely among others).

I'm not familiar with banduria but it has similar sound sa mandolin.

sauana it's used for folk dancing sa dance troupe sa elementary but now that i'm listening lots of bluegrass, country, folk, celtic, celtic slide, and newgrass, i find this musical style very interesting especially upon learning that Bela Fleck and The Flecktones did a cover of Lawiswis Kawayan. (Bela Fleck and The Flecktones is the band whos bassist is the famous Victor Wooten)

This music is an almost forgotten treasure from my memory until i heard The Flecktones version of Lawiswis Kawayan.

naa ba modern band here na mo play ug updated version ani nga kind of music? nindot unta if naa sa? para mamodernized ba

i mean i think most of these songs are public domain (im not that sure though) and if naa lang mosulat ug lyrics sa music sa tinikling or pandanggo sa ilaw and put a modern twist to it (the way Bill Monroe twisted old time string/jug music and turned it into bluegrass, which later on twisted even more by the likes of Chris Thile and Allison Krauss into something we now called newgrass and made it sound young)

yah. saw them sauna perform. what i mean is kanang banda jud ba. i think sa loboc is more of educational institution man. i wanna see a band jud (maybe 5 piece or 4 piece) who will twist this kind of music and put some modern spin to it and take it to another level.

i mean the Irish and Scottish did this with their brand of Celtic and the North AMericans have their bluegrass so why can't we do the same para pod ato folk music ma-ilhan pod sa world..

Speaking of bluegrass, nowadays naa na gani mga younger bands who despised bluegrass and went straight to bluegrass' roots which is the old timey string band/jug type (only this band that i knw of dont hav a jug), The band is called ]Old Crow Medicine Show. ila first album very old timey ang dating.

ila new album however medyo modernize na with the used of drums and mandolins. it started when they started touring with Augustana. Last year they were Dave Matthews Band's opening band...

i have their first 2 albums but didn't bother the new one since the their new sounded like any other americana bands out there...
