@ majoy: i think this will clarify things for you with regards to Tarantula's sensory:

    ****************

A tarantula maintains awareness of its surroundings primarily by using sensory organs called setae (hairs or spines). Although it has eyes, a tarantula’s sense of touch is its keenest sense and in hunting, it primarily depends on vibrations given off by the movements of its prey.

A tarantula's setae are very sensitive organs and are used to sense chemical signatures, vibrations, wind direction, and even sound.

Tarantulas are also very responsive to the presence of certain chemicals being released in the air by animals, such as pheromones.

The eyes are located above the chelicerae on the forward part of the prosoma. They are small and usually set in two rows of four. Most tarantulas cannot see much more than light, darkness, and motion.

Arboreal tarantulas generally have better vision compared with terrestrial tarantulas.

    ****************

with the facts stated above, it just made sense why they wouldn't react to each other's presence if both are separated by a glass or plastic enclosure's wall.

arboreal Ts may have better eyesights, but that doesn't mean they will already strike the "threat pose" once you placed their enclosures next to each other. maybe you are expecting them to be like bettas aka fighting fish who will become aggressive upon sight of another male...even if a glass barrier separates them. unfortunately (for you), they are not like that.

these creatures work and rely on very different faculties (sensory, vibrations, pheromones, etc.) as mentioned above.

so, why bother about making them become aggressive at each other in this manner? these animals are not meant for fighting anyway.

these Ts are display animals that you should be taking care of until they grow into large beautiful specimens that you can be proud of.

hehehe! sabagay, with us growing in a culture where we're so used to seeing spiders being pitted against each other....i can understand that curiousity.

I even heard of a story of a T owner here in cebu who gave his Tarantula sling a meal in the form of another spider commonly used in "spider derbys". the result....the supposed "meal" of the day killed the poor Tarantula.
