    Default Which is good brand of HDD?

    Mga bro unsay pinaka maayo nga brand sa HDD jud? Seagate, western digital, samsung, toshiba etc..

    Share your experience about the HDD you use. I heard about seagate nga daghan kaayo ug bad feedbacks pero why daghan paman mo palit?

    I got WD and Maxtor but my Maxtor is very very old but still on its shape and excellent condition. I think its 5-7 years na no bad sectors or any physic problem. Pero wala naman ang original maxtor ron just seagate who acquired.

    fastest hard drive today is Western Digital's Raptor and is commonly used by enthusiasts at a price.

    **edit**

    not the fastest but most favored since it has speeds similar to SCSI hard drives.

    1st choice nko ky maxtor!! the same experience ta 6years na ako maxtor pero wala pa problem. 2nd choise no is seagate. mas trusted ang seagate ky sa maxtor. most of companies seagate gi gamit nila.

    Seagate? lage daghan nag gamit mao ako gikahibongan sa ka daghan ug return nila. Then when you say ang maxtor mas maayo sa seagate I disagree maayo ang maxtor before mao bitaw ila gi acquire kay maglisod cla sa maxtor but that time na lugi ang maxtor mao nga they gave up their company.

    Ang seagate is nice but I cant say good ba coz so far sa ako nahibaw-an nga HDD daghan ug prob kay Seagate next is maxtor...etc.

    you're obviously not reading the latest news and updates.

    mainstream = seagate
    enthusiasts = wd raptor

    did you know that when barracuda was released, it had short-circuit problem? i was working for a cafe several years back when barracuda was just released when we had to RMA around 7-8 hard drives because of short-circuit.

    ive never had problems with seagate. my dad's company has been dealing seagate hdds and rarely have complaints about defective hdds. i suggest seagate TBH.

    ang gusto nako sa seagate is that if defective(in rare instances na defective) imong hd, pwede nimo mapadala sa main office sa seagate for replacement or repair. imo lang bayaran ang shipping on the way didto nila. free na ang shipping kung ipadala na nila nimo. also paspas ang ilang processing sa replacement/repair. once nagpadala mi ug hd sa seagate na naay bad sector, 5 days later abot na dayon in good condition pa.

    before i forget anything, pwede ra na siya if naa pa sa warranty imong hard disk. 5 years man tingali ang warranty sa mga newer hds karon.

    ^ very well said, this is how we RMA'ed our hard drive back then. gasto lang sa shipping, mura sad ug new hard drive pero kung daghan ang gi ship, mas dali ug practical.

    in my experienced:

    its more in a "lucky way" and how you handle/d it

    samsung- OEM sa office where im working more than 1year ra cya.
    then we replace for a seagate (80gb P2,300.00 pa to siya when we bought it) karon almost 4years na siya but still running smoothly as in no trouble

    seagate- sa akong negosyong buying defective hdd- usahay naa sad koy madawat nga "bad" from factory (rma)

    hitachi- never heard nga mga reklamos or let say gamay ra sad nag-gamit

    WD- so far i heard from my friends nga naggamit ani- ok man ang performance

    but one thing for sure...
    Lisod kaau and RMA sa WD, samsung, fujitso...

    dali ra kaau ang RMA sa seagate, maxtor ug hitachi

    actually..you just have to pay the middlemen like infoseeker ( who contacts seagte on ur behalf, aron dili naka mahasol and dili ka mabutang sa risgo )

    but if u can contact seagate..they will email u where to drop ur RMA hdd..mag hago lang gyud ka.

    and i never had problem with my seagates..except that dili mau i-stack ug install ang mga barracuda kay init..killed 4of my hdd with this .4 at once..was noob then..( until now .. )

    cooked off! after a day of using without adequate cooling and photoshop.

    worst experience is with a maxtor..

    dream : 256GB SATAII SSD x 2 in RAID0
