    Default Overclocking E8200, FSB:DRAM Ratio - Tips Please

    My friend has the following specs:

    MSI na mobo, maximum FSB supported is 1600.
    Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 - 2.66 GHz
    2 * 2GB DDR2-800 (400Mhz * 2 = 800 MHz)

    We overclocked the thing with FSBRAM ratio 1:1 and this is what we came up.

    CPU FSB = 400 MHz
    CPU Multiplier = 8 (default)

    so basically,

    CPU is 400 * 8 = 3200 GHz
    System Bus is 400 *4 (quad pump)= 1600 MHz
    RAM is 800 MHz * 2 = 1600 MHz

    1600 MHz = 1600 MHz, hence FSBRAM ratio 1:1

    Core temp is at 40C idle, 60C fully loaded (intel stock HSF) where northbridge temp is 60 more or less.

    is there a much better way to overclock this thing other than the method we used above that would give us a much better result or is there a way to push thing thing further? My friend is considering an aftermarket cooler (i suggested the sunbeam core contact yadayada, btw ) and the zalman northbridge cooler.

    As always, thank you istoryans.

    pareha ta tanan bro sa settings..pero sa processor lahi...e2180 lng..hehe

    pag thermalright hr -05.ifx nlng bro para sa imo northbridge...hehe

    asa ka mag monitor sa imo northbridge bro?

    speedfan so dili kaayo accurate ang readings.

  4. #4
    1:2 na imo FSB:Ram

  5. #5
    ngano na 1:2 man? as per cpu-z, 1:1 with the oc'ed settings.

  6. #6
    1:1 if FSB=400Mhz and RAM is 800mhz (400 x 2)

    1:2 if FSB=400mhz and RAM is 1600Mhz (800 x 2)

    you are running 1:1

    gipang total raman nako tanan nilang values. like sa cpu fsb which is quad pump, so 1600 while the RAM is 2 stick 800 MHz is also 1600.

    looy ayo imo ram brod..if 1:1.... wat nga memory imo gamit? try use other ratio asa mas better output mao na mas ok hehehe

    ngano looi man bro nga wala man gani na oc iya ram if BUS SPEED niya is 400 dn multi is 8 ang iya ram ana is 800MHz so ok kaau

    Example:
    ram settings are in auto
    BUS SPEED: 500 ===>RAM 1000MHz

    CORE SPEED/2 ===> RATED FSB
    3200MHz ===> 1600MHz
    RATED FSB/2 ===> RAM MHz
    1600MHz ===> 800MHz
    pero ma oc ra pud nimo ang ram if u manually select it..

    I would suggest. 1:1 ratio. it would be enough. It doesn't cause any bottlenecks. 4-4-4-12 cas timings or lower would also help the speed.
