• Miss Cebu 2014 Candidates Part 2 of 2


      According to Miss Cebu 2014 project chairperson and Cebu City Tourism Commissioner Jaja Chiongbian-Rama, Miss Cebu is not just about being a beautiful face but also about being a woman of substance, someone who is not only beautiful and intelligent but someone who is also socially aware.

      Let's get to know Candidates 7 to 12


      #7. Marilis Claire "Mer" Morales, 23, 5'5", is a BS Nursing Graduate of Velez College and is a partner of The Happy Hippo Trading Company.

      Her take on beauty pageants, it should not only be about beauty, it should also be an avenue to be the voice for those who do not have the ability to say what they want to say.

      She has lived abroad but chose to stay here in Cebu because according to her it is very different when one lives outside of the country. She loves children.

      Her platform, if she is crowned as Miss Cebu is to focus on the street children, to get them out of the streets & put them in schools.

      #8. Cheriemel Diane Muego, 19, 5'5 1/2", is a BA Political Science student of the University of the Philippines-Cebu.

      Helping people is a matter of consistency, people will not suspect you with what your intents are if they see that you have been doing it for a while.

      She wants to join the academe & become a teacher, a fan of Beyoncé, Bollywood films, indie films by Filipino artist, a frustrated photographer & make-up artists and she love cats.

      #9. Grace Anne "G-Anne" Yap, 21, 5'6 1/2", is a BS Management Accountancy Graduate of the University of San Carlos and is the Sales Admin staff of Orix Metro Leasing & Finance Corporation.

      Beauty pageants should be more about social awareness and what one can do about it. She also wants to encourage people to help as well.

      #10. Eva Psychee Patalinjug, 19, 5'7 1/2", is a BS Nursing student of the Cebu Doctor's University.

      A beauty pageant should be a platform for women to make a difference. She wants to focus more on doing things without minding the comment of other people. According to Eva (pronounced as Ava), just do what your heart tells you to do.

      She is inspired and determined to practice, for her practice makes perfect. She takes strength and inspiration from Miss World 2013 Megan Young.

      She is into badminton, table tennis, arnis, ballet, singing, dancing and playing the piano. She is also an animal lover, she has 22 dogs and kois.

      #11. Natasha Angela Manuel, 18, 5'8", is a BS Accounting Technology student of the University of San Carlos.

      She is the youngest candidate this year. She wants to be able to influence people and one way of showing that, is that we are able to influence others for the common good. At the end of the day, it is about you do when the cameras are not around that matters.

      #12. Pearlyn "Pearl" Hortelano, 23, 5'9", is a BS Hospitality Graduate of Cebu Technological University and is the Executive Secretary of the Rotary Club of Cebu South.

      She juggled working and studying for two (2) years until she graduated. She joined the Rotary to be able to contribute to humanitarian services. Notable details about Pearl: She is the breadwinner of the family, she is proud that she was born & raised in one of the urban poor areas and she is a daughter of a driver - all these things helped her shape what she is now and what she wants to achieve. She wants to serve the people. She also loves to cook & sing.

      There will be an Online Voting & Photo Exhibit at Ayala Center Cebu & SM City Cebu by Fotoholic by Joseph Ong, Dan Ong & EPiC (Event Photographers in cebu)

      Pre-pageant night will be at Ayala Center Cebu on January 10, 2014, 7pm.

        I commend candidate #12 , albeit she may not be as beautiful as the other candidates, I think she will be the best representative for Miss Cebu... (based on the writer's observations and written comments about her)
