Art Basel Hong Kong brings Encounters, one of the many show sectors this year, highlighting 18 large-scale installations by artists worldwide. This exhibition features the Philippines' late Pacita Abad, a heralded artist who created larger-than-life pieces throughout her life and artistic career, conveying figurative socio-political matters. Her works for this gallery are ambitious explorations of iconographies and techniques from the Global South, spotlighted for this month-long event. Outside of Art Basel, her works can be viewed at Silverlens and Tina Kim Gallery.

More Filipino influence at this year's Art Basel comes from Soler and Luis Antonio Santos, who will showcase their work through the Manila-based gallery The Drawing Room. Soler and Luis Antonio's works are set to complement each other as they bring both abstraction and photorealism to their pieces, respectively. Soler and Luis Antonio have solidified their mark on the local Filipino art scene, with Soler heading the West Gallery in Quezon City.
