DOT names Alan Shirahama Philippine Tourism Ambassador in Japan

Alan Shirahama from the Japanese boy band Exile has been named the Philippine tourism ambassador, the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced. Born to a Filipino mother and a Japanese father, Shirahama is a DJ and the leader of the Japanese all-male dance and music group Generations from Exile Tribe.

Alan Shirahama is a half-Filipino performer, actor, and DJ in Japan with more than 3 million followers on SNS (1.3 million on Instagram and 1.7 million on Twitter). He is a member of the famous Japanese singing and dance group, "Exile" (a popular boy's group that has sold more than 24 million records in Japan alone), "Generations" from Exile Tribe (a subgroup within EXILE), and "PKCZ" (a group of artists composed of Alan Shirahama, Exile Makidai, Verbal of m-flo and DJ Daruma). He has also starred in movies such as "Daytime Shooting Star," "Prince of Legend," and "One in a Hundred Thousand."


The Philippine Department of Tourism announced Mr. Alan Shirahama as the Philippine Tourism Ambassador in Japan during the President's official visit to Japan last February 2023. Since then, he has talked about the Philippines at every opportunity. Mr. Shirahama also became the face of our "LOVE The Philippines" tourism campaign when we launched last December 2023. DOT's partnership with Mr. Alan Shirahama and his managing company, LDH Inc., has helped create awareness of the Philippines as a tourist destination for Japanese travelers.


Fan Meeting in Cebu
During their tit-a-tat last February, the Secretary invited Mr. Shirahama to Cebu. This fan meeting is Mr. Shirahama's way of fulfilling his promise to the Secretary- that he will visit Cebu and create a new promotional video.

About 88 fans and 15 staff members from Japan attended the fan meeting in Cebu, held on March 3, 2024, at JPark Island Resort and Waterpark.
