The first One Town, One Product (OTOP) store officially opened last Sept 26 on the second floor of the Ayala Center Cebu, giving shoppers wider choices and the opportunity to discover locally made products.
It is a permanent store managed by the Lamac Multipurpose Cooperative, a 50-year-old, multi-awarded, and heavily diversified cooperative promoted as a model for sustainable development.
Processed food, home, and fashion items, including artisanal products, arts and crafts, agri-based products, wellness, and personal care products, are among the items sold in the DTI OTOP store, a government program inspired by Japan’s One Village, One Product project.
Only products approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are sold in the DTI OTOP store.
By providing a permanent space for the first DTI OTOP store in Cebu, Ayala Center Cebu and Alagang AyalaLand is helping small and micro-entrepreneurs innovate and promote their products and services to its market, including local and foreign tourists and balikbayans. The DTI OTOP program aims to help micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises drive local economic growth.
