Church attire should reflect our respect for God. Therefore, we are grateful to God that a person is in Church, regardless of how they are dressed.


There are individual circumstances where a person may have other responsibilities and is not able to dress in what we might consider an appropriate manner. At the same time, the Church is a sacred place - genuinely holy ground. It is a consecrated place where we meet God uniquely through the Scriptures, the assembly, and the Eucharist.

At some level, our attire speaks to the importance or unique nature of what we do in that sacred space, worshiping God in the Sunday assembly. People dress with care when they attend social events such as parties, anniversaries, or graduations. That's not to say they are in formal attire, but they have dressed appropriately. Shouldn't we also take the same care as we go to Church to experience God's presence uniquely through the Mass?

Dressing appropriately is a way of saying to God and others that we value the Eucharist and see it as sacred and the source and summit of our lives as Catholics.

Our prayer would be that people understand what it means not to be a distraction to others in such a sacred moment. VOILE wants to encourage more people to live up to the adage of wearing their "Sunday best" - not to show off but as a concrete way of thanking God and caring for our neighbors in the next pew.

FIVE LOAVES & TWO FISH INC.
After the historic 51st International Eucharistic Congress last January 2016, the core group of the IC Committee on Food decided to continue working together, this time for something that would benefit not only the Church but also the local community. Drawing from the experience of food distribution during the 51st IC, the group came up with an idea to form an organization whose aim is to permanently assist the Archdiocese of Cebu in all its events and activities when needed and to provide immediate food response to fire victims within Cebu City.

The organization got its name from one of the miracles Jesus performed during his public ministry: The Feeding of the Multitude. According to Gospel accounts, Jesus used five barley loaves and two small fish supplied by a boy to feed a multitude. However, unlike Jesus' healing miracles, his feeding of the crowd shows care for the people in their ordinary hunger and loving hospitality. Inspired by Jesus' compassion for human beings and their needs, the members named the organization after the miracle as a constant reminder to offer care and hospitality to those in need.

VISION-MISSION:
The organization strives to have a life-long partnership with the Archdiocese of Cebu by volunteering in all archdiocesan events and functions in any way possible. It also aims to serve the Cebuano community, especially in times of catastrophe.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Following the successful 51st International Eucharistic Congress held in January 2016, the IEC Committee on Food members decided to continue their collaboration.

However, this time, the goal was to benefit the Church and the local community. Therefore, building on their experience in food distribution during the congress, the group conceived the idea of forming an organization.

THE FLT ADVOCACY
The primary objective of this organization is to provide permanent assistance to the Archdiocese of Cebu during events and activities and provide immediate food relief to fire victims within Cebu City. The organization's members believe that working together can make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people they serve. They are committed to pursuing this goal with passion and determination.

Since then, the organization has organized several charitable activities that have helped the community, especially those affected by different calamities like fires, typhoons, and even the COVID-19 crisis.

BAGS OF HOPE PROJECT
In March 2022, Five Loaves & Two Fish (FLTF) Cebu launched the Bags of Hope Project as a part of the year-long quincentennial commemoration of the arrival of the Christian faith in the Philippine shores. The project, in partnership with the Archdiocese of Cebu, aimed to extend the 500 Years of Christianity (YOC) celebration to far-flung parishes and peripheries

The first successful Bags of Hope event was held on April 18, 2021, in Barangay Pamutan, a mountain barangay in Cebu City, under Mary's Help of Christians Parish's parochial jurisdiction Buhisan, Cebu City. The event allowed the FLTF Cebu team to bring hope and joy to the people of Pamutan by distributing essential items and sharing the message of faith and love. The project's success is a testament to the organization's commitment to serving communities and fostering positive change.
