@rcruman. i don't think that the song has something to do with questioning the authority of God. we are all inclined to imagine what is good as what John Lennon elaborated on this song. the word "imagine"/or anything we can imagine could be possible, only if we want to pursue it....

I admire Lennon's desire for world peace, no matter how lofty, idealistic (and high) it sounds.
