Deep house still alive in here?
Miguel Migs anyone? "Outside the Skyline" is such a good record.
In my opinion, nowadays distinguishing one from the other doesn't really matter. I think all of these subgenres are collectively under the "electronic" umbrella. But if I had to point out distinct features, it would be:
House
- songs prominently driven by a constant pulsating bass kick. All the other elements of a song take a backseat to the big bass kick.
Techno
- in my opinion, this is just another name for 'electronic music'. Essentially an umbrella term. EDIT: on second thought, I retract my previous statement and say this is actually a subgenre that is all-out electronic. Meaning it doesn't incorporate any organic musical instruments in its songs. EDIT#2: again retracting my 2nd statement. I have absolutely no idea what techno is. I'll leave it at that.
Trance
- electronic music driven by synths. I believe this 'subgenre' can overlap with other subgenres (i.e. a song can be both 'house' and 'trance' at the same time)
That's just me guessing.

yep, and mostly this type of genre has low BPM in their tracks.. and to listeners to this type of genre can now distinguish whether it's house music, techno music or trance music.. here sa pinas, we are more into house music than trance, although na.a pud mga trance listeners out there..
techno sounds are different compared to house and trance not just because of it's high BPM, but it's type of melodies that are produced as well.. from the first listen you can tell it's techno if there are a lot of upbeats..
true, some can even put up some cheesy pop vocals on it..
