Why will I vote for Mar Roxas?
1. He met the constitutional qualifications of presidency without burdening the High Court to construe the fundamental law in his favor. He was born Filipino and stayed Filipino. -OK
2. He is virtually a man of good moral character. His decisions may be criticized but not his character. He is not a gambler. He is not a womanizer. He is not a murderer. He is not a thief. -OK
3. He campaigns with platforms and not with fleeting comedic intermissions. He is boring but his plans are promising and more importantly, feasible. His notable plans include: -OK
a. The Karapatan Fund will streamline distributed progress to all islands in the archipelago and not just imperial Manila. Each Filipino will get Php1,000 worth of projects per year. Thus, no longer will the LGUs need to rub elbows with Congress. -Ok
b. His pioneered Justice Ecozones will pave the way for a continuous litigation scheme that will reduce the backlog of cases in our courts. He also advocates an electronic Justice system. -OK
c. The Php100,000 worth of scholarship to highschool Valedictorians and the subsidy for the top 10% for their allowance will widen the Filipino youth's opportunities for tertiary education and ultimately be among the country's valuable manpower. -OK
d. His firm stand with the West Philippine Sea dispute. He believes our small country cannot allow herself to become smaller in the face of a bigger bully. -OK
e. Transportation woes of Imperial Manila will be allayed by more expressways and stricter franchise grants in the midterm and massive rural development for the long term so that Juan dela Cruz from Mindoro need not go to Manila to seek a better living for his family. -OK
f. The transfer of the main airport to Clark in Pampanga primarily because of its wider area and parallel runways with the consequent high speed rail transit similar to Thailand and Hongkong will improve our tourism gateway. -OK
g. Manufacturing investments are his targets in order to hit two birds with one stone: money inflow and stable employment. -OK
4. His aura as a university professor does not make him dull. This aura will fare well in his representative appearances with the international community. The president is our country's primary diplomat and thus the president must personify the best values and competent abilities of the Filipino. -OK
5. He is not funny. He is not charismatic. He is not appealing. But these aren't requirements to become president. Pilipinas Got Talent, maybe. But not the presidency. Our president need not be a matinee idol. Our president just needs to be honest, God-fearing, and pro-family. -OK
6. He likes dogs. I usually trust people who likes dogs. More importantly, his dogs like him back. -OK
7. He is a responsible father and a spouse to only one woman. He is not an adulterer. He is a family man. -OK
8. He is a Roxas and an Araneta. He is rich and born with a silver spoon. He could have enjoyed the gains of his familial wealth but he opted to build the same comfort of living for his countrymen. Helping the impoverished is not exclusive to those who were impoverished themselves. -OK
9. He is bullied in social media but he doesn't rampage the internet with vulgar words or death threats. -OK
10. Who is better to know the triumphs and flaws of the executive branch than a man who has served three presidents as a cabinet member. He definitely has relevant experience. -OK
My friends, political will and a government with a "puso" are not only limited to being astig and empathetic. Political will and puso necessitate feasible, pragmatic, cost-efficient, and life-respecting platforms. The rule of law and due process keep civilized societies from crumbling into lawlessness and anarchy. -OK
