    Default new pc setup

    guyz im planning to build a new powerful and STABLE pc, was hoping to get some inputs here

    currently im using 2.8gb intel with HT on intel board yong pearl black with 2gb ram and about 1.4TB of hdd (raid IDE setup...only 1 of my drives is SATA).
    im happy with it, SUPER STABLE running 24-7...never hang...never seen the bluescreen not once...the setup is ROCK STABLE...it has been running almost 2 years without reformating now as still very fast and stable. twice ko palang ito na reformat (before i used to format my other systems every 3 to 8 months) at this point im happy with its performance i dont really have the need to upgrade but opportunity is here for me to get a new pc.

    i have very few simple requirements...
    1) i want the matching of hardware to be perfect in such that i get best possible speed with ROCK SOLID STABILITY...it doesnt have to be the fasted but i will need the stability/reliability. i dont want to be working on a photoshop file for 3 hours and the system freezes before i could save it...
    2) since i have over 1.2TB of IDE hdd...it would be nice if i could migrade it to the new PC as well. minimum of 4 IDE is ideal for me.
    or should i just trade them in for new SATA's hehehe...

    bitaw, when it boils down to it i just need noticably more speed than my current system with STABILITY comparable with my current system.

    i dont play games. its photoshop. internet and downloading. video/audio convertion. occational video editing. thats about it for the most part.

    CHIP QUESTION:
    would you guyz recommend core 2 duo or is the price difference not worth it yet? should i wait?
    im eyeing out on the 2.4 E6600 version. some say just get the entrylevel 1.8 or 2.1 (and possibly oc it nalang...basta kailagan stable)...does the 4mb L2 cache make that much of a difference vs the 2mb on entrylevel conroe? that and the extra .3 to .6 ghz be worth the extra price.

    MOBO QUESTION:
    im also eyeing out on the ASUS P5W or P5N but the intel badaxe seems to be more stable...what do you guyz think? and are these worth the price (they are expensive!)

    is the core2duo and available motherboard that stable/reliable already?
    can you recommend a setup or hardwares for me?

    btw, i plan to use XP pro for the mean time...but possible vista in a year or so should it become more stable...yes i plan to build a pc that will keep me happy for more than a couple of years (like in my current system)...budget is no object but gusto ko yong sulit...not because its the most expensive kaya yon ang bibilhin...

    what video card would you guyz suggest...again im not a gamer so i dont need or want killer VCs...but i do want HDI and possibly dual display capability so i can use two monitors (19inch LCD wide and CRT) i like having widescreen at times i prefer standard screen.

    you should wait till july 22 to get the quad core which would sell at about 13k here...

    july 22 onwards
    cpu = q6600 = 13k
    mobo = dfi dark p965 = 8k
    vc = 8500 or 8600 = 5-10k
    hd = 320gb sata II = 4.6k
    mem = 4gb ddr2 667 = 6-8k
    psu = hec 550 = 3-4k

    before july 22
    cpu = e6600 = 13k
    mobo = dfi dark p965 = 8k
    vc = 8500 or 8600 = 5-10k
    hd = 320gb sata II = 4.6k
    mem = 4gb ddr2 667 = 6-8k
    psu = hec 550 = 3-4k

    4gb ddr2 667 unsa na na brand? coz akong plano paliton was the kingston 800 1gb@ 6k so 2gb is around 12k.
    you think its not worth it if i get the kingston...will the 4gb 667 be very stable kaya?

    thanks for your insights...if i cant wait, i think i can get the e6600 now...setup the system...get the feel for it...test it...see if i made the right match hardware wise, replace what needs to be changed sa setup, when q6600 comes out in july, i sell the e6600 and get the q6600 chip lang, it should be compatible with everything else right what cha think?

    nice link... 6 seconds faster ang quad vs duo in 150 photos...i think i can live with the core2duo
    this link shows my current system is almost half the actual speed in CS photoshop operations to that of the E6600...nice!

    2gb dual is more than 5,500 nalang

    is corsair better than the kingston 800?

    BTW StyM, i checked with local intel distributor, quad wont arrive here in the philippines till aug or sept...
