Meditation on the Two Standards:

The Standard of Christ

Whose kingdom am I going to work for – my own or God’s?

All disciples have to choose where we are going to stand—with Jesus or with the world.
No matter what life the Spirit has drawn us to, once we are baptized and confirmed we are called to stand in Jesus’ company under his flag.


The Standard of Satan, ruler of the World

First, there is benign secularism. Certainly, there are people who do not know Jesus Christ who lead deeply good lives.But even the baptized can live in a benignly secular way. We join civic movements and help the needy because that’s what our neighbors do. We are good to our families and honest in the workplace. There is no immediate harm in this way, but neither is there anything more than a secular spirit, even though people today call it spirituality.

Second, the search for pleasure. Being seduced with advertising, we feel pressured to conform to or need to have whatever everyone else has right now -- manifested in self-indulgence, lust, and envy in all forms.

Finally, there is the collusion of succumbing to darkness. Hatred, vengeance, violence, self-destructive habits—these flourish in the dark corners of the sinful human self.

Again, whose kingdom am I going to fight for – my own or God’s?

It does not necessarily mean na if mag go ka sa imong worldly desires kay against naka sa kingdom ni God. As what our patron saint is saying kailangan nato iseek si God diri sa earth including worldy things.

I agree bro... that is why we should practice moderation in all things, as what the Church teaches. Being of this world, pleasure and worldly things are created for man to enjoy but these things sometimes can lead us to evil if we dont use it wisely.

Bro, I believe there is always a proper way of doing things. Only remember to seek the highest good before you act on anything.

Yes, as what the meditation suggest, there is only black and white in this world. Whatever you do, it could be for Christ, or it could be Satan. That is why we need to reflect very well so that we may glorify God in whatever we do.

As the Bible says,

"My thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways"

Dili tanan atong na-huna hunaan nga "sakto" is in accordance with the ways of the Lord. Personally I still struggle with this one.

hey guys, share pud mu sa inyo devotionals or the things you do to keep the Faith burning..
example: of course Holy Mass(Holy communion) , Rosary,
or how many times to go to mass in a week, how often you guys pray the rosary..
quite time, bible reading stuff like that..

some charismatic Community call it FUEL..cause perhaps it keeps the Fire for God burning..

I really don't mind people eschewing material ambitions. What I take exception is the blatant demonization of SECULARISM. I know you all agree with whatever your church leaders mouth off from their bully pulpits. SECULARISM has been getting the "it's-the-work-of-the-devil" treatment lately.

Secularism is nothing more than the "principle of separation of government institutions, and the persons mandated to represent the State, from religious institutions and religious dignitaries." What is ironic is that Catholics themselves invoke the secularist principle when they feel their religious rights threatened, as in the Edgerton Bible Case in Wisconsin where Catholic parents protested against the reading of the KJV Bible in a public school.

It's hypocritical to condemn the very thing that you'd rely on when you're in the minority. This is nothing more than an obvious yearning to return to the Medieval state of affairs where the power of the Catholic Church was at its height.
